About the Artist

ᎣᏏᏲ! Osiyo! Hello!

My name is Kolbi Jane Marie Monasmith, and I am the creator of the jewelry and art found here. I am a citizen of the Cherokee Nation currently residing on Duwamish Land in Seattle, Washington. I have always loved art and creating, and began teaching myself to bead as a way to stay connected and cope during a stressful time. I quickly fell in love with learning how to bead and am deeply inspired by traditional Cherokee beadwork and stories. I seek to blend the traditional and contemporary in my work, and I enjoy constantly learning new techniques and styles.

The art and jewelry I create is a piece of myself and an exploration of myself and my cultural heritage. I create every piece with thought and care with the hope that they will bring joy to the receiver. All the flowers and botanicals used in my resin pieces are collected and dried by hand in a manner that does not permanently harm the plants. Other materials are sourced with sustainability in mind.

ᏙᎾᏓᎪᎲᎢ Donadagohvi- until we meet again.
